For a precise setting, a magnifying glass is to be
used.
For correct function of the trimming device, for a long service
life of the knife and of the insert, it is necessary that the knife
and the cutting edge of the insert are parallel and that there is
no clearance between them and that the knife is not excessively
pushed against the throat plate insert.
5.3.1.1
Fine adjustment of the knife when replacing
the used insert by a new one with the same
trimming distance
Caution! Danger of injury!
Switch off the main switch! Before starting the
setting operation, wait until the motor stops!

When engaging the trimming device, check the parallelism
of the knife and of the cutting edge of the throat plate
insert. When needed, carry out the necessary setting
according to the par.

Engage the trimming device.
- Set the knife using the screw (1) with regard to the throat
plate insert in such a way, so that they touch slightly one
another. (In tightening the screw (1), the knife moves away
from the throat plate insert and, in loosening it, the knife
approaches the insert of the throat plate).

Disengage and engage with care the trimming device.
- When the knife approaches slightly the edge of the throat
plate insert, go ahead further, when this runs with difficulty,
or when the knife bends, repeat anew the previous proce-
dure.
- Disengage the trimming device.
- Switch on the machine.
- Engage with care the trimming device.
Caution! Danger of accieent!
With the trimming device engaged, do not put
your fingers under the trimming knife.

When during the approach of the knife against the throat
plate insert edge there ocrrurs a marked increase of noise,
loosen slightly the screw (1) in such a way, so that the
knife, when being engaged, approaches slightly in
eliminating almost the noise and, at the same time, there
occurs no clearance between the knife and the throat
plate insert.
With an unsuitable setting or when tightening
insufficiently the screw (1), the knife, the throat
plate may be damaged or the trimming device may
function incorrectly.

Setting of the knife when using an insert with
different trimming distance
Caution! Danger of injury!
Switch off the main switch! Before starting the
setting operation, wait until the motor stops!

Set the knife according to the par. 5.3.1.1, it is only necessary,
in loosening or tightening the screw (2), to adjust the
pressure position for the new trimming distance.
- The correct pressure is to be set then in such a way, so that
the screw (2) will be thoroughly tightened after having set
up the knife in loosening it thereafter back by 1 turn.
