Step 4 — Check PDF's
Before you upload...
Acrobat 8+ Professional has some very important tools that should be used for evaluating PDF fi les. Utilizing these tools will
ensure the expected results are achieved on the fi nal page proofs for your publication. Open the PDF fi les you created using
the export method and check the following:
Ink Manager
Very similar to InDesign's Ink manager, you can check that
your job uses (or doesn't use) spot colors and convert spot
colors to process. You can also "map" multiple versions of
the same spot color (Ink Alias).
OverPrint Preview
Overprint Preview needs to be active. This will show you
the results of overprints. If you are having issues with a
complicated transparency (multiple layers, spot colors, other
application programs, excessive vector points, etc.) you
can toggle Overprint on and off for troubleshooting.
Pre ighting
Acrobat 8 and 9 have made great improvements in the
area of prefl ighting and we are happy to recommend this
program. We have our Acrobat Prefl ight available on our
website. You can download the Prefl ight fi le, Import and
utilize it for prefl ighting. Please note that our Standard
Prefl ight DOES MAKE CHANGES to your fi le just as
it would when processing through our prepress system.
