HDTV Quick Set-Up Guide

Congratulations on the purchase of your new Toshiba High-Definition Television.You must have an HD Signal to watch an HD Picture!
Getting HDTV is easy as It 2, 3.
There are 3 basic ways to receive an HOTV Signal on your new High-Definition TV:

Over-The- Air (Antenna)
Connect a high quality outside
antenna (not supplied) directly
to the antenna input on the Tv.
(reception cannot be guaranteed
and is based on proximity to the
local signal)

Cable or Phone Company
HDTV Service
Cable or Phone Company HDTV
Service Customers wiU need to
subscribe to High-Definition
Service from your local provider.
(Additional monthly subscription
cOSt may apply)

SATELLITE
Satellite Customers will need a
High-Definitlon satellite receiver
and appropriate dish hardware.

Digical Cable or Oigical Satellite is not HDTY. The picture quality is superior to scandard analog cable. but it is not HOTV!

Component Video Input
ColorStream- HD Component may also be used to
receive HDTV.
Use if no HDMI- or DVI Jack is available.
There are] jacks color-coded with Red·Green-Blue on
the back of the
TV
and HD Cable
Box
or HD Satellite
Receiver.
This connection will require a seJ>arate analog audio
connection using the red and white audio cables and Inputs.
OVI to HOMI"
Your HD Cable
Box
or HO Satellite Receiver may have
a DVI connection. This will be connected to the HOMI-
jack
on
the TV using an HDMI- cable and an HDMI- to
DVI converter.
DVI carries digital video only. Therefore, this will require
a separate analog audio connection using the red and
white audio cables and inputs.

HDMI- is the best connection for
HDTV.
This is a digital connection that
carries both digital video and
digital audio.
To connect directly from an
antenna or basic cable.
Connect the cable directly
to the antenna input on the
back of the
TV.
Once you have a High-Definition Signal you need to connect it to a High-Definition Input on your TV.
If you are connecting directly from an antenna or basic cable.

If y.u are using an HD Cable Box or HD Satellite Box, there are 3 standard connections that can be used to receive an HD signal.

Now that you have HD Programming and are connected to an HO Input, tune to an HD Channel (remember not all channels are currently broadcast in HD). sit back. relax. and enjoy the superior quality of High-Definition.
Note: Stondard onalog TV channels and HD chonnels. even on the some netwo,*- broadcast on different chonne&. Example: ABC onahlg moy be on channe/4, while A6C-HD moy be on channel 104.
