The instructions below describe how you can check the firmware version on your Insignia NS-DPF8IP Digital Picture
Frame and the steps to update it to the latest firmware version.
About This Update:
Firmware version 42A10I provides improved compatibility for the latest version of iPhone
firmware enables the following:
• Playback of video on the Digital Picture Frame screen
• Full audio through the speakers on the product.
• Use of the remote control to navigate your Apple
To check the firmware version of your device follow below steps:
1.
With the power On, press the HOME button on the remote control.
2.
Navigate to the Setup icon on the lower left of screen and press ENTER on the remote.
3.
In the Setup screen that follows, select the "Factory Settings" option and then press the ENTER key.
4.
Highlight the "Software Version" in the displayed submenu then press ENTER.
5.
The Version number is now displayed.
6.
Press the HOME button to return to Home screen.
FIRMWARE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Download the new firmware file "NS-DPF8IP.img".
2. Copy the above file at the root level of a blank SD card on your PC or Mac. There should be no other files
present on this card.
3. With the power off, insert the SD card in the slot along the right edge of the Insignia picture frame.
4. Turn the power on and wait for 5 seconds.
5. The display will show the start up screen and then will show:
"Do you want to update software?" with the Yes option highlighted.
6. Press ENTER on the remote control once to start the update process.
7. The display will show "Update erasing, don't power off!"
8. After about 1 minute, the display will show "Update finished, please restart system".
9. Turn the power off and remove the SD card.
10. Now turn the power On and check the firmware version per instructions above. It should be DPF8IP-10-
42A10I. The update process is complete now. Please note that some of the customized settings on your
frame will be reset after the update but all images, videos and music files in the device will be untouched.
If the firmware is not updated, repeat the process from step 1. If the update still fails, please use a different
SD card.
