Step for restarting z/VM
If you need to restart z/VM, use the SHUTDOWN REIPL command. The
SHUTDOWN command sends signals to the Linux virtual servers to shut down
and waits for a period of time defined in the SYSTEM CONFIG file.
Before you begin: You must log on as the system operator (if you followed
"Setting up the programmable operator" on page 88, that user is LGLOPR).
Perform this step to restart z/VM:

You know you are done when you see z/VM restored.
Step for managing real devices
Before you begin: You must log on as the system operator (if you followed

shutdown reipl
Result: After the system shuts down and reboots (IPLs), you see a number of
IPL messages. z/VM restores the system to the same state as it was prior to
shutdown.
