Mounting or Mapping Network Drives
The HP CD-ROM Server is integrated into your network
operating system just like file servers and you use the
same commands to access it. To be able to access
CD-ROMs from your applications, you need to make
them available to your system, that is, you "mount" the
CD-ROM server on UNIX systems or "map" the server to
a drive letter on PC systems.
Select the appropriate procedure below to mount or map
the CD-ROM server. After the CD-ROM server is
mounted or mapped, you access it just like any other disk
drive or file server connected to your system.
Windows 95 & NT 4.0 (NetWare Network)
1. Start the Windows Explorer from the Start/Programs
Menu.
2. In the Network Neighborhood locate and open your
CD-ROM Server under Entire Network. If a NetWare
Servers or NetWare Compatible Network subdirectory
appears, open it to locate the CD-ROM server. The
default name is
last digits of the LAN hardware address.
3. Open the CD-ROM Server. Then open the 'SYS' folder.
4. Right-click the 'CD' folder and select Map Network
Drive. Then map the CD-ROM server to a drive letter.
5. Verify that you can access the drive through My
Computer. You are done.
