Lightweight engineering
Where it makes sense to use light materials, our engineers use
aluminium – in, for example, the front part of the car, the doors, the
bootlid and the chassis. Additionally, the roof is all-aluminium and,
thanks to an aluminium crankcase, the six-cylinder diesel engine
is among the lightest in its class. The weight savings reduce
fuel consumption and at the same time optimise the axle load
distribution for improved dynamics.
Brake Energy Regeneration
To supply a battery with electrical energy, the generator alternator)
is customarily driven using engine power, which demands
permanent fuel consumption. Brake Energy Regeneration
means the generator usually only produces electricity when
the driver either takes a foot off the accelerator or brakes –
previously unused kinetic energy is transformed in coasting
