Replacing the Clock/CMOS RAM/Battery

A lithium battery, installed in a socket on the system board, provides power
for the real-time clock and CMOS RAM. Figure 5-1 shows the location of
the battery.
The battery has an estimated life expectancy of seven years. When the
battery starts to weaken, it loses voltage; when the voltage drops below a
certain level, the system settings stored in CMOS RAM (for example, the
date and time) may be wrong. If the battery fails, replace it with an
equivalent battery.
As long as local ordinance permits, you may dispose of individual batteries
as normal trash. Do not expose batteries to excessive heat or fire. Keep all
batteries away from children.

Danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced.
Replace only with the same or equivalent type
recommended by the equipment manufacturer. Discard
used batteries according to manufacturer's instructions.
