Component Descriptions
Functional Information
Component that retrieves data from
the system management basic
input/output system (SMBIOS) data
tables and reads and writes Dell
system data into the BIOS through
system management interrupts
(SMIs) and the CMOS.
Instrumentation Access Provider
(IAP); component that queries the
iap_routing_data.htm file for
configuration information, builds the
lookup tables, and routes data to a
data provider; ensures serialization of
BIOS access and consistency of data,
and reduces memory and disk
requirements.
IAP is an executable that runs as a
Windows service and is the only
service installed by OMCI. Its
purpose is to route requests from the
layer above to the appropriate
component provider below. It also
hosts the component DLLs
(dsmbios.dll, dpci.dll, or
dsysInfo.dll) while they are in use.
Windows Driver Model (WDM) driver
that provides various components with
access to hardware.
