Digital Performance
IMAGE PROCESSOR
Renowned for their superb picture quality,
responsive handling, extended battery life and
fast processing speed, DIGIC Image Processors
have set the standard for functionality and
performance since their ground-breaking
introduction in 1999. The latest advance in
this distinguished series, the DIGIC 4 Image
Processor, accelerates
processing speed, greatly
enhancing picture quality,
improving noise reduction,
and extending battery life.
iSAPS TECHNOLOGY
PowerShot cameras automatically find the optimal
settings for Autofocus, Auto Exposure and Auto
White Balance systems. How? iSAPS (Intelligent
Scene Analysis based on Photographic Space)
technology. iSAPS combines advanced prediction
algorithms with statistical frequencies for key
factors based on Canon's over 70 years of
accumulated data. Effortlessly and in any situation,
you'll get the sharp focus and proper exposure
that turn good images into great ones.

HIGH SENSITIVITY SYSTEM*
Canon's High Sensitivity System (PowerShot
G11 and PowerShot S90) is dramatically
more sensitive than previous CCDs with the
same number of megapixels. Working in concert
with Canon's DIGIC 4 Image Processor and
higher ISO speeds, Canon created the system
to reduce noise, expand the dynamic range
and deliver images with a new level of clarity
and depth.

NOISE REDUCTION
Experienced photographers know that high ISO
speeds can coincide with increased levels of
noise: aberrant or stray signals that degrade
image quality. With Canon's exclusive DIGIC 4
Image Processor, there is no need for compromise.
DIGIC 4 offers a major boost in noise reduction
signal processing to compensate for the higher
ISO settings it enables.

RAW MODE*
The RAW mode lets you shoot images without
the camera processing them in any way. RAW
images can be processed in your computer
using Canon's DPP (Digital Photo Professional)
software. Creative control is completely in your
hands as you adjust a wide range of variables
to produce exactly the final image you want.
Optical Technology
OPTICAL IMAGE STABILIZER*
Camera shake often blurs
images in low light and at
long focal lengths.
Canon's Optical Image
Stabilizer technology
corrects camera shake so
you can achieve excellent
quality images in many
difficult situations —
outdoors at dusk, inside
without a flash, even at
Image Stabilizer Unit
the end of the zoom range
without a tripod. The sophisticated
system detects camera shake and optically
counters the movement, effectively canceling
unwanted lens movement and vibration.
Because it is an optical system, there is none
of the image degradation typical with electronic
image stabilizers.

UA LENS TECHNOLOGY*
The UA lens is a Canon exclusive: a glass-molded
aspherical lens with an ultra-high refractive
index that delivers incredibly bright, clear shots.
Its amazingly small size is a major factor in
keeping the
PowerShot
cameras so
compact.

FACE DETECTION AF/AE/FE/WB*
You always get the shot you want with a camera
equipped with the DIGIC III or DIGIC 4 Image
Processors featuring Face Detection Technology.
When the shutter button is pressed halfway,
the camera finds the face or faces in the frame
to ensure excellent focus and proper illumination
of both the face(s) and the overall scene.
The system also adjusts the flash for the location
of the face(s).

better by concentrating exposure on your subjects'
faces, not their clothes or the background.
Face Detection FE adjusts the flash exposure
based on the location of the faces in the frame.
