Adjust speaker level so the output from the center and surround
speakers is the same apparent level when sitting where you would
normally enjoy a source.
Ensure you have your speakers set up in the following way.

The front speakers are connected to the A terminals (^ page
12) and "SPEAKERS A" is selected.

Turn the sound mode selector to
select "SURROUND."
1. Select "3 STEREO" if surround speakers have not been
connected.
2. Remember, you cannot adjust the output level of the
surround speakers if you select "3 STEREO" mode.

Press [CENTER MODE] to select the
correct center mode.
When the button is pressed, the current center mode is
displayed.
Pressing it again changes the center mode.
NORMAL
When the center speaker is smaller than the front speakers.
WIDEBAND
When the center speaker is the same size as or larger than
the front speakers.
SURROUND mode only
When center speaker is not connected.
The sound for the center speaker is sent to the front left and
right speakers.

Press [TEST] to output a test signal.
The speaker outputting the test signal is displayed while the
test is running.
L: Front speaker (left)
C:Center speaker (not displayed in PHANTOM mode)
R:Front speaker (right)
S: Surround speakers
There is no test signal for subwoofer.

Press [VOL (-) or (+)] to set the
volume level normally used for
enjoying the source.

Use [BALANCE] if the left right balance of the front
speakers is off.
