Important
Read this user manual carefully before you use the
appliance and save it for future reference.
Warning

This appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.

Children should be supervised to ensure that they
do not play with the appliance.
Caution

This appliance can only be operated on a battery.
-
Do not use the appliance when the cutting element
or the appliance itself is damaged or broken, as this
may cause injury.

Use and store the appliance at a temperature
between 15°C and 35°C.
-
This appliance is only intended for trimming nose hair,
ear hair, eyebrows and neck hair. Do not use it for
another purpose.
-
Remove the battery from the appliance if you are
not going to use it for some time.
-
If the appliance is subjected to a major change in
temperature, pressure or humidity, let the appliance
acclimatise for 30 minutes before you use it.
-
For hygienic reasons, the appliance should only be
used by one person.
Electromagnetic fields (EMF)
This Philips appliance complies with all standards
regarding electromagnetic fields (EMF). If handled
properly and according to the instructions in this user
manual, the appliance is safe to use based on scientific
evidence available today.
Preparing for use

To remove the battery compartment cover, turn
it to the left until the setting indicator points
to the 'open' (
^
) indication. Then pull the battery
compartment cover off the motor unit (Fig. 2).

Put the battery in the battery compartment (Fig. 3).
Make sure the + and - poles of the battery point in the
right direction.
Note: The appliance runs on one R6 AA 1.5-volt battery
(included). Preferably use Philips alkaline batteries. A new AA
alkaline battery has an operating time of up to 2 hours.

Slide the battery compartment cover back onto
the motor unit. Turn the cover to the right until
the setting indicator points to the 'off' indication
(Fig. 4).
Make sure the sealing ring is properly placed (Fig. 5).

To avoid damage due to battery
leakage:
-
do not expose the appliance to direct sunlight.
-
do not expose the appliance to temperatures higher
than 35°C.
-
remove the battery if you are not going to use the
appliance for a month or more.
-
do not leave an empty battery in the appliance.
Using the appliance

Remove the protection cap (J) by pulling it off the
appliance (Fig. 6).

To switch on the appliance, turn the battery
compartment cover to the right until the setting
indicator points to the 'on' indication (Fig. 7).

Before you use the trimmer for the first time, test
it on a small part of your arm or leg.
If any irritation or allergic reaction occurs, discontinue
use immediately. Do no use the trimmer on sensitive or
irritated skin.

Trim your nose hair, ear hair, neck hair or eyebrows
as described in the rest of this chapter.

To switch off the appliance, turn the battery
compartment cover to the left until the setting
indicator points to the 'off' indication (Fig. 8).

Put the protection cap back onto the cutting
element after use to prevent damage.
Trimming nose hair
Make sure your nostrils are clean.

Carefully insert the cutting element into one of
your nostrils.
Do not insert the cutting element more than 0.5cm
into your nostrils.

Slowly move the appliance around to remove all
unwanted hairs in your nostrils (Fig. 9).
Trimming ear hair
Make sure your outer ear channels are clean and free
from wax.

Slowly move the cutting element along the rim of
the ear to remove hairs that stick out beyond the
rim (Fig. 10).

Insert the cutting element into the outer ear
channel.
Do not insert the cutting element more than 0.5cm
into your ear channel, as this could damage the
eardrum.

Slowly turn the appliance around to remove all
unwanted hairs from your outer ear channel
(Fig. 11).
Trimming neck hair

Place the cutting element gently on the skin and
move the appliance slowly over the skin against the
direction of hair growth (Fig. 12).

Trimming eyebrows

With the short and long eyebrow combs, you can use the
appliance to trim your eyebrows to a uniform hair length.

Comb your eyebrows in the direction of hair
growth (Fig. 13).

Choose the short or long comb, depending on the
desired hair length. The indications 'short' and 'long'
are on the combs.
-
short comb: 3mm/0.12in
-
long: 5mm/0.2in
Tip: We advise you to start trimming with the long comb.
If you think your eyebrows are still too long after this, use
the short comb.

Slide the eyebrow comb onto the cutting element.
Make sure that the eyebrow comb has been properly
slid into the grooves on both sides (Fig. 14).

To switch on the appliance, turn the battery
compartment cover to the right until the setting
indicator points to the 'on' indication (Fig. 7).

Move the comb over the eyebrow from the outer
tip of the eyebrow towards the base of the nose
(against the direction of hair growth) (Fig. 15).
Never try to trim your eyelashes. Keep the appliance
away from your eyes.
Cleaning
Clean the appliance immediately after use or when a lot
of hair or dirt has accumulated on the cutting unit.
Never use compressed air, scouring pads, abrasive
cleaning agents or aggressive liquids such as petrol or
acetone to clean the appliance.
The trimming head cannot be opened or detached.

Make sure the appliance is switched off.

Clean the cutting element with the brush supplied.
Pay extra attention to the edges of the cutting
element (Fig. 16).
Tip: To remove all hairs, let the appliance run briefly and
then clean the cutting element with the brush again.

Clean the combs under the tap.

Switch on the appliance.

Rinse the cutting element under the tap with warm
water (approx. 40°) (Fig. 17).

Switch off the appliance and let it dry.
Do not tap on the cutting element.
Do not use any sharp objects to clean the cutting
element.
Note: The appliance does not need any lubrication.
Replacement
If the eyebrow combs are damaged or worn,
always replace them with original Philips eyebrow combs,
which are available from authorised Philips service
centres.
The cutting element cannot be replaced. If the cutting
element is damaged or worn, you must discard the whole
appliance (see chapter 'Environment') and replace it with
a new one.
Environment
-
Batteries contain substances that may pollute the
environment. Remove the battery when it is empty
or when you discard the appliance. Do not throw
away the battery with the normal household waste,
but hand it in at an official collection point.
-
Do not throw away the appliance with the normal
household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in
at an official collection point for recycling. By doing
this, you help to preserve the environment (Fig. 18).

Guarantee restrictions

The guarantee becomes invalid when the appliance is
not used and/or not maintained properly or when it is
damaged by dropping.
