ADJUSTING THE SOUND VOLUME _ piste! tevet contro
The front-panel or remote-control-unit SCAN control can be
used to lower sound volume by up to
— 25 dB.
By rotating the contro! to the right, the reduced
sound
volume can be returned to the O dB setting.
@ The same kind of setting can be performed when using
headphones.
® Operation of the sound volume adjustment function is
indicated by the lighting of the SCAN control's indicator.
@ The modified sound level automatically returns to the 0
dB default setting when the power is turned off.
® Only digital recorded sound can be adjusted using this
method; analog sound recorded on LDs cannot be adjust-
ed in this way.
@ Sound volume control cannot be effected at the optical
digital output connector.
® When the digital sound level has been lowered using this
control, pressing the AUDIO button to listen to analog
sound
will cause the sound
level to rise suddenly.
Be
careful.
1.
Press the remote control unit's digital level con-
trol button
(D-LEVEL CTRL).
® The control level will be indicated on the screen.

Rotate the control to the left.
® The sound volume will be reduced.
@ To return sound level to its original setting, rotate the dial
to the right.

To cancel the digital sound volume function:
Press D-LEVEL CTRL button again.

The indicator will light.

The film mode preserves the natural ambience of a
movie theater in the following way:
@ The screen display turns off.
® The screen is blacked (blanked) during stop mode and
when disc is changing sides.
@ The display window
disappears.
Pressing one of the front-panel or remote-control unit but-
tons turns on the display for about 1.5 seconds.
@ The B-side TOC is not read.
The TOC is not read, in order to shorten the side-changing
time as much as possible. As a result, random playback,
and edit playback cannot be performed on the ''B"' side
of LDs, even when the discs contain TOC codes. tn ad-
dition, the remaining time, ABS time, and total tire dis-
plays will not function.
(These
displays
will function
normally if the side ''B'' is played hack once before us-
ing the film mode).
NOTE:
When set to Film Mode, the front display window will not
appear, even when the power is turned on. In addition, the
film mode is recorded in memory
even when the power is
turned off, so the display window will remain off the next
time the power is turned on. To turn the display window
on again, press Fl DISPLAY OFF button.
