After selecting "ONCE" or "DAILY", press the MEMO button @.
The ONCE or DAILY operation is set automatically in 8 seconds
even if the MEMO button is not pressed.
e The set timer programs can be cancelled temporarily
when they are not required.
1. If the timer indicator is displayed, press the TIMER
button @.
When the timer program contents start to be displayed, press the
TIMER button again.
2. The TIMER indicator disappears from the display, and the timer
program will not be executed.
The timer program can be re-activated by pressing the TIMER
button 6) again to display the TIMER indicator.

If both PRG-1 and PRG-2 have been set, it is not possible to
temporarily cancel only one of them.
Checking Timer Program Contents
Use the following procedure to check the timer program contents.
The check is possible even when the power of the unit is OFF.
1. Press the TIMER button @). If no timer program has been set, The
TIMER indicator flashes for 2 seconds and then disappears. If any
timer programs have been set, their contents are displayed in the
following order, taking 2 seconds for each step.
2. "TIMER
PRG-1" is displayed.
3. "13:50 ON" or "1:50 PM"
(an example of ON time display)
4. "16:30 OFF" or "4:30 PM"
(an example of OFF time display)
"CD 11" (example when CD track No.11 is to be played)
"DAILY" or "ONCE" (depending whether PRG-1 is DAILY or ONCE)
"TIMER
PRG-2" (not displayed when PRG-2 has not been set
The information on PRG-2 is displayed in the same way as in 3 to
6 above.
9. The display returns to the previous display of clock or function.

Sleep Timer Setting (remote control only)
automatically after a specified period of time.
1. While the power is ON, press the SLEEP button [3].
2. The display shows "SLEEP 10" for 5 seconds (with "10" blinking).
Press the SLEEP button
[9] during counting of sleep timer to
display the remaining period until the power is turned OFF.
To change the set-up period after the sleep timer has started the
count, display the remaining time, press and hold the SLEEP
button
[9] for more than 1 seconds while the remaining period is
displayed, and repeat steps 2 to 4 above.

Tocancel
the sleep timer operation, use the following procedure.
A. Press the SLEEP button
[9] then, within 5 seconds, press the
"O/CL" numeric button [4]. This cancels the sleep timer.
TROUBLESHOOTING

Should faults occur, it is in many cases not necessary to consult your
dealer or Marantz technical service department. On the basis of the
following checks you will be able to rectify a number of faults yourself
yithout difficulty.
If the fault cannot be remedied after the following checks, please
consult your dealer or nearest Marantz service agent.
Does sound come from only one side?
Is the balance control set correctly?
Check the connections of the loudspeaker which is not working.
Check the connections between the sound source and receiver.
lf using headphones, check that the plug is properly inserted into
the jack.

Does the receiver hum, buzz or howl during recording or
playback?
:
Check the earth (GND) connection of the record player.
Are the connection plugs pushed far enough into the jacks?
In this case change the positioning of the loudspeakers.
You cannot hear anything, and no indicator lights up?
— The receiver is not switched on
— The receiver is not connected to a mains power outlet.
The mains power ouilet is not live.
Is the selected sound source functioning properly?
Is the volume control high enough?
Do not keep it in the maximum position!
— Are the loudspeakers connected properly?
Before you check this, ensure that the receiver is switched off.
Was the recording unsuccessful?
Faulty operation of the signal source to be recorded.
Remote control is not working.
— Check that the batteries of the remote contro! are not exhausted.
If they are, replace them with two new batteries.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT EXTERNAL SURFACES
thinners, benzine, insecticide or other volatile substances as these
external surfaces with a soft, lint-free cloth.
If the equipment becomes heavily soiled:
wipe the equipment with the damp cloth.
— dry the equipment by wiping it with a dry cloth.
FUSE REPLACEMENT
If a fuse blows, unplug the equipment from the mains supply.
Replace the fuse only with a fuse of the same type and rating.
Replacing the fuse with one of a higher rating or a slower action will
not protect the equipment and will invalidate the warranty.
lf the
replacement fuse blows again after the equipment is turned on, the
equipment should be taken to an authorized service facility.
