Restricting Playback of
the Disc
[PARENTAL CONTROL]
The [PARENTAL CONTROL[ function allows
you to restrict playback of DVDs that have
ratings. Scenes may be blocked or replaced with
different scenes.
You can set the playback restriction by
registering a password. When you set the
[PARENTAL CONTROL1 function to on, you
need to enter the password to play restricted
discs.

Press FUNCTION +/- repeatedly until
"DVD" appears in the front panel
display.

Press © DISPLAY while the system is
in stop mode.
The Control Menu display appears on the
TV screen.
Press '1"14, to select _ [SETUP],
then press @.
The options tbr [SETUP] appear.
Press 4,/4, to select [CUSTOM], then
press @.
The Setup Display appears.
Press 4,/4, to select [SYSTEM SETUP],
then press @.
The options for [SYSTEM SETUP] appear.
Press 4,14,to select [PARENTAL
CONTROL --,], then press @.
• If you have not entered a password
The display for registering a new password
appears.
PARENTALCONTROL
Enter a new 4-digit password,
then press _.

Enter it 4-digit password using the number
buttons, then press @.
The display for confirming the password
appears.
• When you have already registered a
password
The display for entering the password
appears.
Enter or re-enter your 4-digit password
using the number buttons, then press
®.
The display t_r setting the playback
limitation level appears.

Press 4,/4, to select [STANDARD], then
press @.
The selection items for [STANDARD] are
displayed.
Press 4,/4, to select a geographic area
as the playback limitation level, then
press @.
The area is selected.
When you select [OTHERS --+[, select and
enter a standard code from "Parental
Control Area Code List" (page 106) using
the number buttons.

Press 4,14,to select [LEVEL], then press
®.
The selection items for [LEVEL1 are
displayed.
1 1 Press 4,14,to select the desired level,
then press @.
[PARENTAL CONTROL[ setting is
complete.
The lower the wflue, the stricter the
limitation.
