General Information and Cleaning

The interior of all Airstream trailers has been designed
for comfort, convenience, durability, and appearance�
How you use it and how you take care of it, naturally,
depends on you� However, if you learn to operate
the interior components, and take care of them and
the trailer properly, this knowledge will add to your
pleasure, as well as the long life of your trailer�

Upholstery

Vacuum upholstery regularly� Surface dust that is
allowed to build up will slowly diminish the clarity
of the fabric's original color� Use proper vacuum
attachments to avoid breaking down the fibers, which
can cause pilling� In addition to regular vacuuming,
consider occasionally having the upholstery cleaned
professionally�
Water-based cleaning agents, foam, or mild water-
free solvents may be used for cleaning this fabric� Blot
liquid spills with paper towels or a clean white cloth�
Apply household upholstery cleaner sparingly� Over
wetting may spread stains and damage the cushion
material under the fabric� Rub gently with a clean white
cloth� Turn the cloth frequently while cleaning—work
from the outer edge toward the center of the spot to
reduce ringing� Cleaning the entire fabric panel, or at
least a large area around the spot further reduces the
likelihood of ringing� It is preferable to rinse the entire
panel with a hot water extraction cleaner� For additional

Interior Aluminum Skin

Interior aluminum skin can be cleaned by washing with
any mild non-abrasive soap or detergent� Cleaning
should be followed by a thorough clean water rinse�
Drying the unit with a chamois or a soft cloth may
prevent spots and streaks� Do not use abrasive
cleaners or utensils on the aluminum skin as it is
coated with a clear coat that could be damaged�
Airstream recommends using Pledge® All-Purpose
Cleaner to clean interior surfaces including the
aluminum skin�
NOTICE
When washing or polishing your trailer, always
wipe with the grain of the metal.

Window Shades

Blot liquid spills with a clean, dry cloth� For oil-based
spills, apply an absorbent such as corn starch, then
remove with a straight edge�

Birch Veneer Plywood Cabinetry

The cabinets in your REI Special Edition have a
UV protective acrylic finish you can clean with most
household detergents� Do not use corrosives or
abrasives, bleach, chlorine-containing products, or nitro
and trichloroethylene solutions, as these may damage
the finish.
Remove minor dirt and stains with a soft, damp
cloth� Use a soft nylon brush, water, and a domestic
detergent for tougher stains� Remove stubborn stains
from glue, ballpoint pens, markers, etc�, with diluted
denatured alcohol� Use a vinegar detergent to remove
limescale rims�

Countertops

Clean the surface of the Formica laminate countertop
with a clean, damp, non-abrasive cotton cloth and a
mild liquid detergent or household cleaner� Rinse with
clean water and dry the surface with a soft, clean,
non-abrasive cotton cloth. Avoid flooding the laminated
areas, especially near seams, since water can
penetrate and cause the substrate to swell�
Never use cleaners containing acid or alkali on the
countertop� These cleaners will damage laminate
surfaces� Also, make sure that bottles, rags, and
to locate cleaning
other materials contaminated with these cleaners
never contact the laminate surfaces� If contact does
occur, wipe off accidental spills immediately, and rinse
thoroughly with water�

Sinks and Faucets

Clean with a soft cloth and mild household detergent�
Avoid abrasive cleaners, steel wool, and harsh
chemicals as these will damage the surface�

Sink Cover/Cutting Board

The Epicurean sink cover/cutting board is a paper
composite product� It can warp if left in wet conditions
for long periods� To avoid warping, thoroughly dry the
board and sink before storing� Airstream recommends
using the reverse side for food prep as the surface will
show signs of use from cutting utensils� To clean your
Epicurean cutting board, wash it with hot soapy water
and dry with a cloth� To remove stubborn stains, use a
non-abrasive household cleaner�
