in this value by contacting the nodes's BMC via RedFish using the configured IP
and user/password combination.

5.4.7 Configuring IPMI/BMC manually on X200 (OPTIONAL)

The below is only needed if you want to make use of
on page 57.
To manually configure the IP on the IPMI/BMC, the most easy way is to use the System's BIOS. So you'll
need to connect a display and keyboard to each node and get into the BIOS: Power cycle and start pressing
DEL or F2.
• Once you're in the BIOS, navigate to: IPMI
• Go to 'BMC Network Configuration'
• Select Update IPMI Lan Configuration, choose YES and hit ENTER
• Go to Configuration Address Source, select Static and hit ENTER
• Make the necessary changes for the IP, Subnet so that this BMC resides in PrivateVLAN1. DO NOT
change the settings for 'VLAN' as we do not use VLAN tagging on IPMI level. You can leave
gateway blank too, as there is normally no gateway in PrivateVLAN1.

5.5 Deploy ActiveScale using the Quantum VM installer

Once the VM installer has been correctly setup, it is time to run the actual installation. This process
consists of 3 steps:
• Prepare installer: Basic sanity check + extract of the ISO image and setup of TFTP on the VM
installer
• PXE boot the ASnodes: PXE boot the nodes from the VM installer using the included ActiveScale
ISO image, installs the ISO to disk (Replacement of USB boot in field installation procedure)
• Deploy and configure ActiveScale: Deploy and configure ActiveScale on the different nodes and tie
them together as 1 integrated system.
All these steps assume a correct and complete inventory. Read more about building the inventory in
Building the inventory
on page 49.
A major benefit of the VM installer is the fact that once setup and the inventory build, it's easy to restart
the install without the need to manually re-do the USB boot and enter all the details.
Note: Please note that if you change node specific settings, you need to delete all
files under ~/quantum_installer/inventories/host_vars before
re-running the installer. Failing to do so can cause certain setting updates not to
be taken into account.
Note: The installer will output to stdout, so if in the below steps you connect via
SSH to the VM installer, please make sure the connection remains stable during
the full install. To ease potential debugging, all output is also written to a log file
Opting for the fully automated install (OPTIONAL)
