There will be variations in the temperature in different parts of the house and there will be variations in temperature throughout the day and night. -

As you reduce the air supply to the fire, two important things happen. After a year or more of use, the door gasket will compress and become hard, which may allow air to leak past it. You can test the condition of the door gasket by closing and latching the door on a strip of paper. -

If you do install an air supply through the wall of the house, be aware that its pressure can be affected during windy weather.
