Problem? Let's check
No sound
Check to see if the power cord is connect-
ed securely to the household AC outlet.
ө The input select button corresponding to
the music source you want to listen to is
engaged.
Press the appropriate input select button.
ө The TAPE
MONITOR
switches are de-
pressed when
you want to monitor an
audio source.
ө The VOLUME control is set too low.
Adjust the VOLUME control.
ө The SPEAKERS
switch
is turned OFF
(ш).
Turn ON ( = ) the A and/or B SPEAKERS
switch.
ө Protection circuit is engaged.
Check the speaker cord connections and
the speaker impedance.
ө The ADAPTOR
jack's short pins have
been removed.
Replace the short pins when an audio pro-
cessor or a graphic equalizer is not con-
nected to the Akai amplifier.
if the BASS, TREBLE and BALANCE
controls do not work when adjusted or
if tape playback cannot be heard when
the
TAPE
MONITOR
switch
is de-
pressed
The SOURCE DIRECT switch is depressed.
Turn off the SOURCE
DIRECT switch by de-
pressing it.
if distorted
or little sound
is heard
during record playback
The CARTRIDGE switch is not set at the ap-
propriate position ( =
МС ог жа ММ) for
the cartridge that you are using.
Confirm the type of cartridge with its instruc-
tion sheet or specifications of the turntable,
then set the CARTRIDGE switch accordingly.
Н during playback, you cannot hear the
bass fully or the sound does not seem
to be in stereo.
if there is little or no sound during play-
back
The MUTING switch is depressed.
Turn down the VOLUME control if necessary,
then turn off the MUTING switch by depress-
ing it.
ө Check the speaker connections.
Make sure that Ф wires are connected to
Ф terminals and © wires to © terminals.
Should a problem persist, write down the model
and serial numbers and all pertinent data regarding
warranty coverage as well as a clear description of
the existing trouble. Then contact your nearest au-
thorized Akai Service Station.
The speaker system
Speaker placement
The playback characteristics of the speaker sys-
tem(s) are greatly influenced by the placement and
the room
in which the speakers are used. For
example, if the speaker system is placed near a
hard wall, the bass will sound better but the treble
might seem too strong. Play back some music with-
out using the tone controls and move the speaker
system around to find the best location. However,
please keep the following in mind.

flat and solid surface which does not trans-
mit too many vibrations.
è паме ventilated, not very humid place.
ө Away from direct sunlight and heatsources
(stoves, etc.).
@ Away from your turntable and TV.
To prevent damage to the speaker system.
ө Donotraise the volume too high.
© Turn off the Akai amplifier when changing ог
connecting the player system's cartridge .
ө Lower the volume when changing radio stations
and when cueing or reviewing tapes.
ө Donot touch the speakers' diaphragms
How to clean the speaker system(s)
èe Clean the speaker system(s) with as oft, dry
cloth.
© if they are very dirty, use a mild detergent .
è To protect the diaphragms (the vibrating parts),
do not spray liquid cleaner directy
onthe
speaker system. Always spray iton a cht h first.
© Never use alcohol, paint thinner, chesnically
treated cloth or use a spray-type imeccticide
near the speaker system, as this wil clamage
the finish.
