Formatting the HDD Card
The HDD Card is FAT32-formatted before shipment. Therefore you generally do not need to
perform partition creation or formatting. If the HDD Card becomes unusable after the HDD
Card has been formatted using a device with a different format type, use the following
procedure to perform partition creation and formatting. Before reformatting the HDD Card,
confirm that all data on the HDD Card is unnecessary. Reformatting the HDD Card will delete
all data saved to the HDD Card.
I For Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition
Use pccinit.exe under the HDD Card Re-Partition Utility folder in the supplied software CD-ROM.
Refer to README.TXT. for additional details.
I For Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Home Edition, Windows XP
Professional
Use the Computer Management tool supplied with Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP
Home Edition, or Windows XP Professional. You can perform partition creation or formatting with
Disk Management in the Tree tab. At that time, allocate the maximum capacity to one partitioned
area and select FAT32 as the file system. The Computer Management tool is located under the
Management tool in the Control Panel. For details, consult the owner's manual for a personal
computer or Help in Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Home Edition, or Windows XP
Professional.
Important
For windows 98 or Windows 98 Second Edition, never use the FDISK.EXE for managing
G
disk partitions. Using this tool results in the capacity of the HDD Card to be incorrectly
identified, effectively disabling the use of the HDD Card.
When using a tool other than the pccinit, make sure to perform formatting so that the
G
FAT32 format and a single partition result. Operation will not be assured if the HDD Card
is formatted to another standard.
