Emulating a full-size keyboard
Although your computer's keyboard is compatible with a full-size
101/102-key enhanced keyboard, it has fewer keys.
Pressing the
several keys allows you to emulate a full-size keyboard. The keys
are: Alt, Ctrl, cursor control mode, and numeric control mode. See
"Using the keyboard" on page 62
Setting up for communications
You use the computer's built-in modem to access the Internet or to
communicate with another computer at a remote site.
If you are having trouble connecting through the modem, you may
need to determine the current COM port name and possibly
change it.
Determining the COM Port
Your modem is connected to one of the computer's COM
(communications) ports. The default setting for the built-in
modem is COM2
DEFINITION: Although the terms are often used
interchangeably, the serial port and COM port are really two
different things. The COM port is a unique identifier the
computer uses to communicate with the serial port or other
serial devices.
