Procedure
1. In the web interface, select the Services node in the tree and click Support, which displays an
overview pane.
2. Click Configure button to open the configuration wizard.

Verifying and updating the firmware and software

After the initial configuration of the system is complete, IBM strongly recommends that you confirm
whether a later level of firmware and software is available. and update to that level.
About this task
To check the firmware level and update it if necessary, complete the following steps:
Procedure
1.
First, check the installed code level.
a. To use the management GUI, select Settings > General > Upgrade Software and then click Check
for updates.
b. To use the CLI, enter the system status command at the command prompt.
2. If a newer code level is available, install it before going into production. Firmware loads are not
concurrent. To view the latest code level and obtain a new release of code if necessary, complete the
following steps:
a. Access the Fix Central support site on the web at www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral.
b. Select your product from the Product list, then click Continue.
c. Compare the code level on your system with the latest version in the list. If a newer code level is
available, select the newest version fix level.
d. Select All in the Filter by operating system drop-down list.
e. Follow the instructions to download and install the updated code.

Reformatting uninitialized flashcards

If the storage system has been without power for more than one month, it is possible that the
management GUI shows one or more flashcards as failed. The front panel may also show error messages
such as Storage Offline.
Before you begin
This condition is NOT a failure. It is a characteristic of Enterprise Flash technologies that are used in the
storage system. The remedy is to format the flash array. There is no immediate need to contact support if
this condition is observed on first boot or if the storage system was powered off for more than one
month. (You can verify the last power up date by selecting Logs in the GUI and verifying the date of the
last entries.)
