Overview
The new Xicom XTRT series amplifiers are designed to control standard redundant and
power combined systems without the need for an additional controller. These systems
include:
1. One for One Redundant
2. One plus One Phase Combined (VPC)
3. One plus One Switch Around (Magic T)
4. One for One Redundant with Load Switch
5. One for Two Redundant
For system operation each amplifier has connection and controls for two waveguide
switches and an Ethernet port that supports multiple connections. The system
configurations generally include connections to the waveguide switches and a
connection to an Ethernet hub. Conceptually the amplifiers are connected as required
to the switches and then connected to the Hub in order to exchange status and controls.
Initial Setup
There are several important requirements for setting up Xicom's new XTRT series
amplifiers for system configuration.
1. The system type i.e. one for one redundant, VPC etc must be selected properly
in the set-up menu of the amplifier.
2. The position select jumper plug must be installed on the proper W/G switch
connector (more about this in the section titled Amplifier Position Select).
3. The Ethernet connection between the amplifiers must be present and functional
(more about this in the section titled Ethernet Setup Requirements).
4. Proper interconnect cables must be purchased or assembled to interconnect the
Waveguide switch VPC etc. (See system interconnect diagrams for the system
ordered).
