We'd like to take a moment to thank you for purchasing the Roland DYNAMIC
MICROPHONE.
Before using this unit, carefully read the section entitled: "IMPORTANT
NOTES." This section provides important information concerning the proper
operation of the unit. Additionally, in order to feel assured that you have gained
a good grasp of every feature provided by your new unit, this manual should be

■ IMPORTANT NOTES

• Howling could be produced depending on the location of microphones
relative to speakers. This can be remedied by:
1. Changing the orientation of the microphone(s).
2. Relocating microphone(s) at a greater distance from speakers.
3. Lowering volume levels.
• Protect the unit from strong impact. (Do not drop it!)
• Do not open or perform any internal modifications on the unit.
• Never use or store the unit in places that are:
• Subject to temperature extremes (e.g., direct sunlight in an enclosed
vehicle, near a heating duct, on top of heat-generating equipment); or are
• Damp (e.g., baths, washrooms, on wet floors); or are
TALK SWITCH
MICROPHONE HOLDER
■ FEATURES
• Cardioid handheld mic with shock-absorption for reduced handling noise
• Silent-Switch Design for reducing power on/off switching noise
• Talk Switch comes with a lock to prevent unintended operation
■ OPERATION
1. Connect the XLR connector to the microphone.
2. Connect the other side (standard phone jack) of the cable to the input jack of
the unit you use, such as mixer.
3. Turn the Talk switch on.
4. If you wish to install the microphone to a microphone stand, use the supplied
microphone holder. If the microphone holder does not fit the stand, try
exchanging the screw adapter. (U 5/8, W 3/8)
■ TALK SWITCH
DR-30 has a Talk Switch with a locking system. This specially designed switch
may be locked in the "ON" position to prevent accidental turn-off during use.
• To lock, slide the switch up into the "ON" position. Using a precision
screwdriver, turn the small screw in the center of the switch 90 degrees (1/4
turn) counterclockwise. When the screw slot position is horizontal ("across"
the microphone body, fig. 1), the switch is locked.
• To unlock the switch, turn the screw 90 degrees clockwise until the screw slot
position is again vertical (in line with the microphone body, fig. 2).
* Never force the screw. Do not turn the screw more than 90 degrees (1/4 turn),
and do not turn it clockwise to lock (fig. 3).
* The switch may only be locked in the "ON" position. Do not turn the screw
when the switch is in the "OFF" position (fig. 4).

• When using the microphone with the stand recommended by Roland (ST-
210 or ST-259), make sure the legs of the tripod are opened wide enough to
keep the equipment from falling over. The stand must be carefully placed so
it is level and sure to remain stable.
• For everyday cleaning wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth or one that has
been slightly dampened with water. To remove stubborn dirt, use a cloth
impregnated with a mild, non-abrasive detergent. Afterwards, be sure to
wipe the unit thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth.
• Never use benzine, thinners, alcohol or solvents of any kind, to avoid the
possibility of discoloration and/or deformation.
