    Getting started About this User guide This is the Xperia™ Z4 Tablet User guide for the Android™ 5.0.2 software version. If you're not sure which software version is running on your device, you can check it via the Settings menu. For more information about software updates, see Updating your device on page 120 .

    Inserting the nano SIM card into the device without the nano SIM card holder could damage your nano SIM card or your device, and Sony Mobile does not warrant and will not be responsible for any damage caused by such action.
  • Page 8 To remove the nano SIM card Detach the cover for the nano SIM card and memory card slots. Press the nano SIM card holder inwards and then release it quickly from its slot. Remove the nano SIM card. Push the nano SIM card holder back into the nano SIM card slot until you hear a clicking sound.

  • Page 9: Starting Your Device For The First Time

    The first time you start your device, a setup guide opens to help you configure basic settings, sign in to online accounts and personalise your device. For example, if you have a Sony Entertainment Network account, you can sign in to it here and get set up straight away.

  • Page 10: Charging Your Device

    Your device has an embedded, rechargeable battery that should be replaced only by Sony or an authorised Sony repair centre. You should never try to open or take apart the device yourself. Opening the device can cause damage that voids your warranty.
  • Page 11 Using a micro-fibre cloth, wipe away any excess moisture from your device. With the device held firmly and the USB port facing downwards, shake the device vigorously at least 15 times. If moisture is still visible in the USB port, shake the device again several times. Use a micro-fibre cloth to wipe away any remaining moisture from the USB port.

Locking and unlocking the screen When your device is on and left idle for a set period of time, the screen darkens to save battery power and locks automatically.

    FM radio Listening to the radio The FM radio in your device works like any FM radio. For example, you can browse and listen to FM radio stations and save them as favourites. You must connect a wired headset or headphones to your device before you can use the radio. This is because the headset or headphones act as an antenna.

    To take a photo using Smile Shutter™ When the camera is open and Smile Shutter™ is turned on, point the camera at your subject. The camera selects which face to focus on. The face selected appears inside a coloured frame and the photo is taken automatically.
  • Page 83 You see two images in the camera viewfinder of your device – one from your own camera and one from a connected Xperia™ device or a Sony camera that supports NFC and Wi-Fi Direct™ technology. You can then edit what you see in the viewfinder before taking a photo.
