Digital-to-Analog Converters
To maximize audio fidel it y, Pioneer used a separate stereo
digital-to -anal og conver ter for each of the BDP - 09F D's
7.1 channel s. E ach 24 - bit / 192- k il oher t z D A C r uns in
dif f er ential mode t o cancel noise and inter f er ence, and
hel ps the BDP - 09F D achieve its impressive 120 - decibel
s ig n a l - t o - n oi s e r a t io.
State-Of-The-Art Audio Decoding
The BDP -09F D decodes all audio formats currently used for
Blu-ray Disc and D V D, incl uding DT S - HD
Dolby
True HD, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, and Dolby
®
Digital Plus. These may be heard through the player's analog
outputs, decoded in the player and sent out as uncompressed
PCM audio, or sent out for decoding in an audio / video receiver
or sur r ound - sound pr ocessor.
Toroidal Tr ansformer
Power-supply transformers create powerful magnetic fiel ds
t hat can af f ect the operation and per f or mance of audio
circuitry. The BDP -09F D's round toroidal transformer—the
same t ype used in al most al l high - end stereo equipment—
pr oduces a tighter, mor e cont ained magnetic f iel d t han

PQLS Jit ter-Free Audio Tr ansmission
Pioneer's Precision Quar tz Lock System (PQL S) recl ock s
HDMI digital audio for jitter-free performance when the BDP -
09F D is used in conjunction with a PQLS-equipped Pioneer

audio / video receiver. PQL S produces cl earer transients,
mor e r eal istic ambience, and deeper sil ence.
Custom Capacitors
Off-the - shelf power- supply capacitors sometimes var y as
much as 50 percent from their stated value. Pioneer created
tight-tolerance, custom capacitors designed for low internal
resistance and inductance, to ensure that the power supply
del i v er s it s specif ied per f or mance.
Dedicated Analog Audio Power Supply
T he rapid on /off nature of digital circuitr y can cause high -
frequency fl uctuations in a power supply—fl uctuations that
can impair sound if the anal og audio circuitr y is powered by
the same supply. T he BDP - 09F D uses a separate power
