What you can do with the
supplied CD-ROM
• You can upgrade the software of MEX-1 HD and
install Gracenote CDDB R on the hard disk drive
(HDD) of MEX-1HD.
• Mobile Library Manager software enables you to
manage your library information on your computer
with Memory Stick. And you can get CD titles which
you do not have in the HDD of MEX-1HD from
Gracenote CDDB via the Internet with a Memory
R
Stick, and register them in MEX-1HD.
Tip
After installing Gracenote CDDB R on the HDD of MEX-
1HD, if necessary, you can delete Gracenote CDDB R
the HDD, and you can also reinstall it on the HDD with
the supplied CD-ROM. See "Installing/Uninstalling CDDB"
of the supplied MEX-1HD operating instructions.

• IBM PC/AT or compatible machine
• CPU: MMX Pentium 233MHz or more
(266MHz or more is recommended)
• Hard disk drive space: 50MB or more
• RAM: 64MB or more
• CD-ROM drive
• PC having the slot for Memory Stick, an adaptor
available for Memory Stick read and write, a Network
Walkman available for Memory Stick, or a card
adaptor for Memory Stick

Upgrading MEX-1HD
After upgrading MEX-1HD;
• All menu settings return to their initial settings.
• Further functions, especially in the menu are
added.
– Demonstration mode (On/Off)
– The default setting of REC Continue changes
to On.
– When erasing an album, the album itself is
placed in the Recycle Bin. All tracks in the
Recycle Bin before MEX-1HD being upgraded
are placed in the first album folder of the
Recycle Bin.

– When you press to open the disc tray:

the disc tray opening time becomes longer.
– A file is also available to back up and restore
the data of a Memory Stick.
Note
Do not turn the ignition off while upgrading MEX-1HD.

Place the supplied CD-ROM in MEX-1HD.
1 Press to open the disc tray.

2 Place the CD-ROM (labeled side up) on the disc
tray until it clicks.
3 Push the disc tray to close.

Press (OFF).

Press (MENU).
The menu window appears.

Rotate the R dial to select "Version," then press
the R dial.

Press (F1) (UPDATE).
The confirmation window appears.

Rotate the R dial to select "OK," then press the R
dial.
It takes about 40 minutes to upgrade MEX-1HD and
to install Gracenote CDDB R . If the power supply
happens to be cut during the upgrade and
installation, the supplied CD-ROM in MEX-1HD will
automatically reboot MEX-1HD and restart
upgrading softwares and installing Gracenote
CDDB R from the beginning. It takes 3 minutes for the
CD-ROM to start rebooting MEX-1HD and during the
reboot the display remains off. Do not turn the power
of MEX-1HD off as MEX-1HD will be automatically
rebooted. When the installation of Gracenote CDDB
is complete, "Install Complete" will appear, then the
date and time will be displayed.

avec le MEX-1HD redémarre automatiquement le
MEX-1HD et recommence depuis le début la mise à
niveau des logiciels et l'installation de Gracenote
CDDB R . Il faut environ 3 minutes pour que le CD-
ROM redémarre le MEX-1HD. Pendant le
redémarrage, l'affichage est éteint. Ne coupez pas
l'alimentation du MEX-1HD car MEX-1HD sera
redémarré automatiquement. Une fois l'installation
