Get started with Ubuntu Server

Ubuntu server does not come with a desktop GUI installed by default so the unit can run headless and be
managed using ssh. Configuration is expected to be done from the command line.
By default the system is configured with a default account "ubuntu" with password "ubuntu". The first time
you login you will be prompted to update the password to something unique.
You will likely want to create your own user account using the a a d d d d u u s s e e r r < < u u s s e e r r n n a a m m e e > > command and follow
the instructions. If you want to give that account supervisor privileges, use the u u s s e e r r m m o o d d - - a a G G s s u u d d o o
< < u u s s e e r r n n a a m m e e > > command.
Connect to networks
Your computer helps you connect to the world through a wired or wireless network.
To identify the interfaces available, use the i i p p a a command. For example:
Connect to the wired Ethernet
Connect your computer to a local network through the Ethernet connector on your computer with an
Ethernet cable.
By default the installer will configure the interface to use DHCP. If you want to configure a static IP, create a
netplan configuration in the file /etc/netplan/99_config.yaml. The example below assumes you are
configuring your first Ethernet interface identified as enp2s0. Change the addresses, gateway4, and
nameservers values to meet the requirements of your network.
