Problem
The display shows: PHONE BOOK EMPTY
Or the system says
"No names in the phone book.
To add contacts to the phone book,
go to the SETTINGS menu and select
"USER DATA". To dial a phone
number, say "Call number"."
Probable cause
Mobile phones with contacts management
❍ You replied "Yes" to 'The data from
the phone book will be copied to the
vehicle. Continue?' but the phone
book downloaded does not contain
valid names
❍ You used the option PHONE BOOK in
the menu SETTINGS but the mobile
phone list does not contain valid
contacts
Mobile phones with individual contact
management
❍ When the system asked
"The data from the phone book will
be copied to the vehicle. Continue?",
you answered "Yes" but you have
not transferred valid contacts during
the ADD CONTACTS PROCEDURE
❍ You have used the option ADD CON-
TACTS but you have not transferred
valid contacts to the system
Possible solution
Mobile phones with contacts manage-

❍ Enter valid contacts (one name and at
least one telephone number) into the
phone book for your mobile phone
and then download the phone book

❍ Download the phone book again
and make sure you transfer valid con-
tacts to the hands-free system using
your mobile phone, when requested by
the system
❍ Use the option ADD CONTACTS in the
menu SETTINGS to transfer the names
from your mobile phone to the hands-
free system
