Supplementary Instructions for Windows XP
This Supplementary Instructions explains the method of installing Windows XP and using Hard Disk Data Erase Utility.

Installing Windows XP

Follow the steps below to install Windows XP.
NOTE
In this Supplementary Instructions, the names and terms are referred as follow.

• "Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 with Advanced Security Technologies" and "Microsoft
XP Tablet PC Edition 2005" as "Windows XP"
®
• "Windows Vista Business with Service Pack 1" as "Windows Vista"
When you install Windows XP, the hard disk data will be erased.
Back up important data to other media or an external hard disk before installation.
<Only for model with Windows Vista>
To correctly operate "First-time operation for Windows XP" (
the Windows XP before installation. (See the reverse side)
This computer is provided the license of Microsoft Windows Vista Business (which includes the right to downgrade to
Microsoft Windows XP Professional).
Preparation
• Prepare the Product Recovery DVD-ROM Windows XP.
• <Only for CF-T8 Series>
Prepare the CD/DVD drive.
The performance is confi rmed by Panasonic CD/DVD drive.
(optional: CF-VDRRT1M, CF-VDRRT2W, CF-VDRRT3W, CF-VDRRT3U).
• Remove all peripherals (only for CF-T8 series, except for CD/DVD drive).
• Connect the AC adaptor and do not remove it until installation is complete.
NOTE
<Only for CF-F8/CF-W8 Series>
Even if hard disk data erase is performed, the number of times of DVD's region code setting will not be reset.
1 <Only for CF-T8 Series>
Turn off the computer and connect the CD/DVD drive to the computer.
2 Turn on the computer, and press F2 or Del while [Panasonic] boot screen is displayed.
The Setup Utility starts up.
If the password is requested, enter the Supervisor Password.
3 Write down all of the contents of the Setup Utility and press F9.
At the confi rmation message, select [Yes] and press Enter.
4 <Only for CF-F8/CF-W8 Series>
Select the [Main] menu, then select [Optical Drive Power] and press Enter.
5 <Only for CF-F8/CF-W8 Series>
Select [On] and press Enter.
6 Press F10.
At the confi rmation message, select [Yes] and press Enter.
The computer will restart.
7 Press F2 or Del while [Panasonic] boot screen is displayed.
The Setup Utility starts up.
If the password is requested, enter the Supervisor Password.
8 Set the Product Recovery DVD-ROM Windows XP into the CD/DVD drive.

When the disc cover does not open, confi rm the following settings.
• [Optical Drive] is set to [Enabled] in the [Advanced] menu.
• [Optical Drive Power] is set to [On] in the [Main] menu.
