Chapter 2. 3745 Models 130 to 17A: Connecting LICs and
Cables
This chapter gives all the procedures for the 3745 (Models 130, 150, 160,170, and
17A) hardware connection task. If this is the initial installation of your
communication controller, the following cabling order is recommended:

LAN connection to the service processor in case of 3745 Model 17A.

This does not apply to the 3745 Model 17A.

1. Plug in any Ethernet LAN access unit interface cables
2. Plug in any high-speed line cables
3. Plug in any token-ring cables
4. Install the operator console(s)

Attention
By touching inside the machine, you can cause electrostatic discharges (ESDs)
that may result in errors in the system operation, or damage to the equipment.
Therefore, it is very important that you touch the ESD plate before you touch
any element inside a unit or plug in a cable. The ESD plate is located on the
inside face of the frame door.
