Appendix A. Windows Dial-Up Networking Setup
Following is an optional section on creating a Windows Dial-Up Networking (DUN)
connection for the AirLink modem. This section is for reference, or for a user who
does not have the AirLink Setup Wizard available.
A Windows DUN connection enables communication over the GPRS network as an
internet connection for the PC. Windows 2000 is used as the example because it the
one Windows OS revision that carries the most similarity to both Windows 98 as well
as Windows XP.
Add Windows Modem Driver
Setup Modem
Connect the modem to the computer with the DB-9 cable.
Plug in the AC adapter, connect the antenna(s) and power on the modem.
Obtain administrator privileges on your system.
If you do not know how, check with your system administrator.
Add Modem Driver
1. Select Start→ Settings→ Control Panel→ Phone and Modems Options.
2. You should see be in the Phone And Modem Options dialog box. Select the
"Modems" tab.

The AirLink Setup Wizard can create the DUN connection for you and
automate many of the steps listed below. The Setup Wizard can be run again
if needed, and select just "Setup a DUN Connection" to only create a DUN
connection.
