• Secure the tie rod to the right axle with the flat
washer removed earlier and a new cotter pin.
Do NOT reuse the original cotter pin once

it has been removed.

position, move speed control lever into neutral
position, set parking brake, stop engine and
remove key to prevent unintended starting.
Engine
Refer to the White Outdoor Engines Operator's
Manual for engine maintenance instructions.
Check engine oil level before each use as instructed in
the White Outdoor Engines Operator's Manual
located after the TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE section of this
manual. Read and follow instructions carefully.
Changing Engine Oil
For draining oil from the engine's crankcase, a plastic
oil drain sleeve is packed with this Operator's Manual.
To drain the oil, proceed as follows:
• Unscrew the oil fill cap and remove the dipstick
from the oil fill tube.
• Snap the small end of oil drain sleeve onto the oil
sump. See Figure 13.

• Remove drain plug and drain oil into a suitable
container with a capacity of no less than 62 oz.

Neutral Adjustment
If your tractor's speed control lever does NOT return to
the N (neutral) position when fully depressing the brake
pedal, see your White Outdoor dealer to have the drive
system inspected and professionally adjusted.
• Service the oil filter as instructed in the White

Perform the above steps in the opposite order after oil
has finished draining.
• Refill the engine with approximately 62 oz. (1.83
liters) of new motor oil.

proper weight of motor oil.
Air Cleaner
Service the pre-cleaner and cartridge as instructed in
the White Outdoor Engines Operator's Manual located
after the TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE in this manual.
Spark Plug
The spark plug should be cleaned and the gap reset
once a season. Spark plug replacement is
recommended at the start of each mowing season.
Refer to the White Outdoor Engines Operator's Manual
for correct plug type and gap specifications.
Cleaning the Engine And Deck
Any fuel or oil spilled on the machine should be wiped
off promptly. Do NOT allow debris to accumulate
around the cooling fins of the engine or on any other
part of the machine, especially the belts, pulleys and
other moving parts. Clean the underside of the deck
with a wisk broom, scraper or forced air after each
mowing.
The use of a pressure washer or garden
IMPORTANT:
hose to clean your tractor is NOT recommended. It may
cause damage to electrical components, spindles,
pulleys, bearings or the engine. The use of water will
result in a shortened life of the tractor and reduce its
serviceability.
