Receiving TV signals using a TV antenna or from a cable provider (no cable box)
The MX-42X3 monitor does not have an NTSC broadcast tuner. The product will not accept a connection
directly from a coax connector. A connection directly from an antenna or from a cable provider contains
information that the monitor will not understand. You will need to "translate" this information by suing an
external device. Most VCRs have this ability.
Steps:
(I) Connect the coax from your antenna or from your cable company to the antenna input on the
back of your VCR.
(II) Connect the video output (normally identified as a yellow RCA connector) from your VCR to
either the AV1 input on the back of the MX-42X3 (a yellow RCA connector well).
(III) You will also need to connect the Audio output (normally identified as a red and white RCA
connector) from the VCR to the corresponding colors audio input jacks on the AV1 input.
(IV) If you have not done so already, turn the power on for the MX-42X3 and the VCR. Select AV1
input on the Maxent monitor. You should now see the display for the VCR.
Note: Using this type of connection you will be able to select channels using the controls for your VCR.
Power, volume control and input selection are still done using the Maxent monitor or the Maxent remote
control. Depending on your model of VCR, you may be required perform additional steps to setup the VCR
such as Channel Search. Please consult the user manual for the VCR for VCR setup.
Receiving TV signals using a set top box (cable or satellite company provided)
(A) High definition set top box:
This type of box can generally be confirmed by identifying the types of outputs on the back of the box. This
type of box will have outputs commonly labeled as "component video". You may also see outputs such as
RGB, DVI, or HDMI.
Steps:
(I) The coax connector from your cable or satellite company should already be connected to the
back of the set top box.
(II) Connect the Component video output (can be identified by 3 colored RCA plugs(a green, can
be labeled Y; a blue, can be labeled Pb; and Red, labeled Pr) from your set top box to the
component video input on the back of the MX-42X3 (you will also find a corresponding type
connection there as well). Be certain to match the colors from the set top box with the ones on
the back of the Maxent.
(III) You will also need to connect the Audio output (normally identified as a red and white RCA
connector) from the set top box to the corresponding color audio input jacks on the component
input.
(IV) If you have not done so already, turn the power on for the MX-42X3 and the cable or satellite
box. Select Component input on the Maxent monitor. You should now see the display for
cable or satellite box.
Note: Using this type of connection you will be able to select channels using the controls for your cable or
satellite box. Power, volume control and input selection are still done using the Maxent monitor or the
Maxent remote control.
