    General precautions WARNING Do not touch the safety switch inside the machine. High voltage may occur and electric shock may be caused. In addition, gears can rotate, which may result in personal injury. Do not use any inflammable spray near the machine. Doing so may cause a fire since there are high-temperature parts inside the machine.

    Unpacking Unpacking the machine • The packing case and buffer materials are required to ship this machine. Keep them properly instead of discarding them. Take out this machine out of the packing case, and remove the buffer materials and the plastic bag. Lift the machine and place it in the installation location.

    Installing consumables • Do not power on the machine. • Check that the machine is not turned on before installing consumables. • Because the image drum (i.e. the glossy cylinder) can easily get damaged, handle with adequate care. • Do not expose the image drum to direct sunlight or strong light (approx. 1,500 lux or above). Do not leave it uncovered for more than 5 minutes even under room lighting.

    Assembling the holder Assemble the holder to be used according to the roll paper to be used. If the inner diameter of the roll paper is 76.2 mm (3 inches), use the flange (large). If the inner diameter of the roll paper is 50.8 mm (2 inches), use the flange (small). The plates of the holder are applicable to both kinds of roll paper.

    Turning the power on Plug the power cord to the power connector on the back of the machine. Insert the power plug into the outlet. Open the left cover on the front, and press and hold the power switch for approximately 1 second.

    Turning the power off Open the left cover on the front, and press and hold the power switch for approximately 1 second. After "SHUTTING DOWN. PLEASE WAIT/TURN OFF AUTOMATICALLY" appears on the operator panel, wait until the operator panel goes off. Disconnect the power plug from the outlet.

    Installing optional accessories The following optional accessories are available for this machine. • Wireless LAN module Install it when you want to connect to a wireless LAN. • Presenter unit Install it when you want to hold the printed paper without completely ejecting it. Installing the wireless LAN module Install it when you want to connect this machine with a PC via a wireless LAN.

    Applicable paper In order to maintain high quality printing, it is necessary to use paper that fulfills the quality, thickness and surface finish conditions. Thoroughly test the print quality and paper traction beforehand, and check that there are no impediments before use. If the media (paper) is curled or wrinkled before printing, print quality and paper feed performance cannot be assured.

    Preparing paper Prepare the paper to be loaded in the roll paper holder. Refer to "Roll paper specifications" (Page 54) for the size and type of paper that can be loaded in the holder. Take out the paper from the wrapper. Deal with the tape that holds the front edge of paper.

    Setting paper information from the operator panel Set the information of paper to be used from the operator panel. Make settings in the order of Paper form → Paper size → Paper weight → Cut type → Cut position. • Paper form For roll paper or the continuous paper that is folded along the perforations, set it to [CONTINUOUS PAPER].

    Aligning the paper sensor Checking the position of paper sensor The position of the paper sensor varies with the paper to be used. Refer to the table below to check the set position and adjust the paper sensor accordingly. • If the cut type setting of the machine do not match the position of the sensor, a paper jam will be falsely detected. In that case, check the type of the paper loaded in the machine on the operator panel, and adjust the position of the sensor accordingly.

    Adjusting the position of paper sensor • Remove the guide rib if installed before adjusting the position of the paper sensor.     Click [Start], and select [Control Panel] from [Windows System tools]. Click [View devices and printers]. Right-click on the [Pro330S PCL6] icon, and select [Printing preferences]. Click [User-defined paper...] in the [Setup] tab. Input the information of the paper to be registered.

Click [Sensor Calibration...] in the [Setup] tab. When [Would you like to execute sensor calibration?] is displayed, remove the paper from the machine.
