4.5 Synchronising Bypass

For switching operations, which involve connecting an uncharged line or bus to a live line or live bus, a means of
bypassing the synchronising operation is required. This is achieved using the Sync Bypass setting, which is in
the VOLTAGE SETTING MENU. The range of setting values for this are:
Setting
Description
DL AND LB
Dead Line AND Live Bus
LL AND DB
Live Line AND Dead Bus
DL AND DB
Dead Line AND Dead Bus
DL OR DB
Dead Line OR Dead Bus
DL XOR DB
Dead Line Exclusive OR Dead Bus
To bypass the synchronisation feature and issue a Bypass Close output, specific line and bus conditions have to
be met and the Sync Bypass status input has to be energised. The Bypass Close output will stay on for the
duration of the time that the Sync Bypass status input is energised and while the line and bus conditions are met.
Alarms can be generated from the following outputs:
LLLB (Live Line and Live Bus)
DLDB (Dead Line and Dead Bus)
LLDB (Live Line and Dead Bus)
DLLB (Dead Line and Live Bus)
