Scope of the Manual
This Installation Sheet provides change-out procedure
for CSB400 Series Balance Port and Stem/Stem
Guide. Complete instructions for installation,
maintenance and parts ordering information for the
CSB400 Series regulators are found in a separate
Instruction Manual (D103123X012).

Change-out Procedure
To avoid personal injury or equipment
damage, do not attempt any maintenance
or disassembly without first isolating
the regulator from system pressure
and relieving all internal pressure as
described in "Shutdown" section.

for repair must be tested for proper
operation before being returned to

  • Page 2 CSB400 Series Step 1 (no picture). If the regulator is installed in service perform the following shutdown procedure. Shutdown Installation arrangements may vary, but in any installation it is important that the valves be opened or closed slowly and that the outlet pressure be vented before venting inlet pressure to prevent damage caused by reverse pressurization of the regulator.
  • Page 3 CSB400 Series new balanced O-ring port assembly pitot tube Step 5. Remove new balance port assembly from repair kit. Verify the new balance port assembly has a green stripped spring. If it does not have a green stripped spring, it is an old balance port assembly and should not be used. O-rings will come well-lubed with Dow Corning 33 and installed on the balance port assembly.

Remove the old stem and stem guide from actuator by gripping the actuator stem with a pair of pliers and gently pulling the stem guide until the O-ring seal breaks free. The use of pliers to remove the stem will permanently damage the stem.
  • Page 5 CSB400 Series place the actuator back on the body tighten bolts 10 to 13 ft-lbs / 13.6 to 17.6 N•m tighten two bolts in alternating manner Step 9. Place the actuator back on the body, place the provided stainless steel tag (See Figure 1) over one of the two 1/2-inch / 13 mm bolts which hold the lower casing to the body and tighten in an alternating manner with 10 to 13 ft-lbs / 13.6 to 17.6 N•m of torque.
