1. Press the P O W E R s w i t c h © to supply power, and the
POWER LED ©
lights.
2. A bright line appears in the C R T center. If it is not in the
center, adjust its position to the center with the • POSI-
TION c o n t r o l l e r ® . T h e n , adjust the brightness with the
INTENSITY controller © , and the focus, with the F O C U S
controller © as required for easy observation.
3 . Supply input signal into the C H 1 INPUT jack © . Rotate
the V O L T S / D I V control © to adjust waveform to ap-
propriate dimensions.
Set the MODE select s w i t c h © to C H 2 . T h e n , supply in-
put signal into the C H 2 INPUT connector (To). Its w a v e -
form is displayed on the C R T in the same procedures with
channel 1 .
When the MODE select s w i t c h is set to A D D , the com-
posite w a v e f o r m s of C H 1 and C H 2 (the algebraic sum
of C H I + C H 2 ) is displayed on the C R T . In this status,
if C H 2 INV is engaged by pulling out the C H 2 t POSI-
T I O N , the algebraic difference between C H 1 and C H 2
(CH1 - C H 2 ) will be displayed.
The sensitivity of the ADDed waveform becomes the
same as the value indicated by V O L T S / D I V provided that
the same V O L T S / D I V value has been set for the w a v e -
forms of the t w o channels.
W h e n the M O D E select s w i t c h © is set to A L T , the
channel-1 and channel-2 w a v e f o r m s are displayed alter-
nately in every s w e e p . Waveform of each channel is trig-
gered independently. If the MODE select s w i t c h ® is set
to C H O P , channel-1 and channel-2 w a v e f o r m s through
chopped triggering are displayed. If the S O U R C E select
s w i t c h @) is set to V . M O D E , the channel-1 signal only

the S O U R C E select s w i t c h @ to C H 2 .
4 . The display on the screen will probably be unsynchroniz-
ed. Refer to T R I G G E R I N G procedure below for adjusting
synchronization and s w e e p speed to obtain a stable dis-
play showing the desired number of w a v e f o r m .
TRIGGERING
The input signal must be properly triggered for stable
w a v e f o r m observation. T R I G G E R I N G is possible the in-
put signal INTernally to create a trigger or with an E X -
Ternally provided signal of timing relationship to the
observed signal, applying such a signal to the E X T . T R I G
INPUT jack @ .
(1) T h e selection of a signal that serves as the trigger
signal is made using the S O U R C E s w i t c h (§).
* Internal Sync
W h e n the S O U R C E selector (§) is set to V . M O D E ,
C H 1 , C H 2 or LINE, the input signal is connected to
the internal trigger circuit. In this position, a part of
the input signal fed to the INPUT jack © o r © is ap-
plied from the vertical amplifier to the trigger circuit
to c a u s e the trigger signal synchronously with the
input signal to drive the sweep circuit. If the S O U R C E
select s w i t c h is set to V . M O D E , the trigger signal
is selected in compliance with the vertical MODE
selector setting. (Refer to the section " C O N T R O L S
A N D I N D I C A T O R S " . ) Setting the vertical MODE
selector to A L T causes independent trigger to the
channel-1 and channel-2 signals respectively, ena-
bling t w o signals with no time relationship to be ob-
served.
If the S O U R C E select s w i t c h is set to C H 1 or C H 2 ,
triggering is made by the channel-1 and channel-2
signals respectively, regardless of MODE © setting.
Setting the S O U R C E select s w i t c h to LINE causes
synchronization with commercial power frequency.
