Hardware and Software Setup After the notebook powers on: The power/standby light turns on. The battery pack in the battery bay begins to charge, and the battery light turns on. (The battery light remains on while the battery pack is charging and turns off after the battery pack is fully charged.) The software setup prompt appears on the screen.
Before you can use your wireless LAN or Bluetooth options, they must be configured. For more information regarding wireless LAN, refer to the Integrated Wireless LAN by hp CD that is included with the notebook. For more information regarding Bluetooth, refer to the Bluetooth by hp CD that is included with the notebook.
HP strongly recommends that you install optional antivirus software before using your modem or a network connection. Antivirus software is available from most computer or electronics retailers.
Using the Notebook Safely To protect the notebook from the power surges that may be caused by an unreliable power supply or an electrical storm: Plug the notebook power cord into an optional, high-quality surge protector. Provide surge protection for the cable that connects the modem to the telephone jack.
