Curtis 9PR1 Installation Instructions

IF USING REC HOUSING WITH CAP TOPPER, BE SURE TO CHECK THE
PICTORIAL DRAWING BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE STEPS BELOW.
1. Locate desired mounting location. Hold housing against the surface and check for obstructions
before drilling. Housings have not been pre-drilled so the installer may alter screw locations to fit
surface encountered for mounting. Drill a 7/64" pilot hole for each screw to be used.
NOTE: REC-0 uses six (6) screws; REC-1 uses eight (8) screws; and REC-2 uses ten (10) screws.
2. Install antenna and route lead to radio mounting location.
3. REC-0 HOUSING ONLY: mount speaker s and r oute leads to r adio mounting location.
4. Install and route wiring from nearest 12V source to mounting location. NOTE: wiring not
supplied for this step.
5. Antenna lead, power leads, and speaker leads (speaker leads only used with REC-0 housing) can
be routed so as to enter housing through the open top area or they may be routed to enter through
the side or back of housing. NOTE: the housing would require drilling for the latter method.
6. Install shaft nuts on radio and adjust so that when radio is placed through the housing, and the
trim plate is in place over the nose piece, then the nose of the radio will be flush with the trim
plate. Secure radio to housing with second set of shaft nuts.
7. REC-1 and REC-2 HOUSING: connect speaker leads to the speaker or speaker s at this
time.
8. Using the perforated strap supplied with the radio, cut and bend a "L" shaped bracket to fit
between the rear of the radio chassis and the bottom of the housing. Fasten "L" bracket to the
radio using screw supplied with radio. Drill hole in housing and fasten other end of "L" bracket to
housing using a #8 x 5/8" long pan head screw and a #8 clip nut.
9. Hold housing assembly close to mounting location and make all wiring connections.
10. Attach housing assembly to mounting surface using #8 x 5/8" pan head metal screws in each of
the previously drilled pilot holes.
11. Adjust antenna trimmer for best reception (see owner's manual for location of trimmer).
