Getting Started (Videotapes)
S-VHS
S-VHS system has realized high resolution (a horizontal resolution of 400 lines or
more) and high picture quality when compared to the standard VHS system.
Use a videocassette with an mark. Cassettes with an mark can be recorded in both
the S-VHS and VHS formats. When an tape is recorded in the VHS format, press S-
VHS button on the VCR sot that the S-VHS indicator in the VCR's display goes off.
You can use cassettes with a mark, but the recording will be in the VHS format.
Tapes recorded in the S-VHS format can be played only by recorders with an mark.
This VCR discriminates between the S-VHS and VHS recording formats automatically
in playback.

Loading and Ejecting

When you load a videocassette into the VCR, there is only one right way! Most tapes
show you the way with a little arrow on the top side which should go in first.
Bring the videocassette near to the door and the door opens automatically. Push the
videocassette gently into the slot on the front of the VCR. You will feel the VCR take it
in. The door closes automatically.
When the cassette is all the way in, the VCR powers up automatically and a TAPE-IN
indicator shows on the display. It may also start playing immediately if the safety tab
has been removed and if you have set the MOVIE RETURN function to ON.
To remove the cassette, simply press the EJECT/OPEN button on the VCR or the
EJECT button on the remote control.
Now you can take the cassette out and put it away.
Tips
When a cassette is already in the VCR, the door does not open even if the another
cassette is brought near to the door.
The door can also be opened and closed by pressing the EJECT/OPEN button.
Do not force the door open or close with your hand.
The door may open even when an object other than cassette is brought close to the
