10 Starting / Stopping the Engine
10.1.1
Cold engine (cold start)
► Turn the choke knob to c.
10.1.2
Warm engine (warm start)
► Turn the choke knob to o.
Also use this setting if the engine has been run‐
ning but is still cold.
10.1.3
Cranking

► Place the machine securely on the ground –
make sure that bystanders are well clear of
the nozzle outlet and
► take the blower tube off the hook on the
blower housing (transport position).
► Make sure you have a firm footing: Hold the
machine with your left hand on the housing
and put one foot against the base plate to pre‐
vent it slipping.
► Pull the starter grip steadily and quickly with
your right hand. Do not pull out the starter
rope to full length – it might otherwise break.
► Do not let the starter grip snap back. Guide it
slowly back into the housing so that the starter
rope can rewind properly.
► Continue cranking until the engine fires.
10.1.4
When Engine Begins to Fire
If the engine is cold:
► Turn the choke knob to o and continue crank‐
ing until the engine runs.
If the engine is warm:
► Continue cranking until the engine runs.
10.2
As Soon As the Engine Runs

► Blip the throttle trigger (2) – the choke knob
automatically returns to F
or
► Turn the choke knob to F.
The engine settles down to idling speed.
