belt is seen to
move
along
the rollers in
either direction,
it will require
c e n t r a l i z i n g
before use.

sanding belt is running centrally.
• Run the Sander for a short time. If the belt is still
not running centrally, use the wing screw for belt
adjuster (2) to adjust the position of the sanding
belt.
Operating instruction
Using the Belt Sander
Hold the machine with both hands and assume
a balanced posture. Press the On/Off switch (4)
and allow the motor to reach full speed. Hold the
machine parallel to the work piece. Gently bring belt
to contact with the work piece.
WARNING: The sander may initially
snatch forwards. Resist the forwards
motion and allow the sander to move
forwards at a gradual pace.
Do
not
use
e x c e s s i v e ,

pressure,
this
may
cause
the
belt
to
snap. Keep the
sander moving
forwards
at
an even pace. Failure to do this will result in an
uneven finish. When the operation is finished, lift
the sander clear of
the workpiece and
release the On/Off
switch (4). Wait
until the belt has
stopped rotating
before
putting
the sander down
on
workbench.

Failure to do this will result in the machine running
forwards.
Replacing the sanding belt
• Locate the belt tension lever (10) and pull
outwards.
• Take care as the lever is under tension and may
spring back to the closed position.
• Continue pulling the lever outwards until it locks
in the position shown. NOTE: the sanding belt has
directional!

Sanding belts come in different grades i.e. rough
through smooth.
• Select the grade according to the material you
are operateing.
• Locate the sanding belt on the rollers.
• Make sure the sanding belt does not touch the
sides of the casing and that the arrows, printed on
the inside of the sanding belt point in the direction
of travel. Release the tension lever (10).
WARNING: Caution is required as the
lever is under spring tension. Make sure
the lever closes fully. With the new
sanding belt fitted it must be checked to ensure
that it is running centrally on the rollers

Replacing carbon brushes

• During
use,
the
carbon
brushes
will
wear down and
will be indicated
by
a
possible
loss
of
power
and
excessive
sparking
seen
through
the
ventilation slots. When the carbon brushes have
worn down to approximately 4-5mm, they will
require replacing.
WARNING: Make sure that the sander is
isolated from the mains power supply
before fitting accessories, maintenance
and adjustment. If in doubt consult a qualified
electrician.
• Place the sander on a workbench and using a
screwdriver remove the carbon brush housing (8)
cover. Remove the carbon brush from the brush
housing and replace it with a new one. Slide the

new carbon brush into the brush housing. Repeat
this procedure for the other carbon brush. Then
replace the carbon brush housing cover (8).
NOTE: carbon brushes must be replaced in pairs.

Maintenance and cleaning

Before any work on the machine itself,
pull the mains plug.
• Use only mild soap and a slighty damp cloth to
clean the sander. Many household cleaners contain
chemicals which could seriously damage the plastic
• Do not use petrol, turpentine, laquer, paint
thinners or similar products.
• Always keep the machine and the ventilation
slots clean. Should the machine fail despite the
rigorous manufacturing and testing procedures,
repair should be carried out by an authorized
customer services center for IVT power tools.

Environmental protection

Recycle raw materials instead of
disposing as waste.
Machine, accessories and packaging should be
sorted for environment-friendly recycling.
The plastic components are labelled for categorized
recycling.
These instructions are printed on recycled paper
manufactured without chlorine.
