SECTION 17 - TORQUE CONVERTERS POWERSHUTTLE TORQUE CONVERTER DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION The torque converter is the connection between the engine and the transmission and is hydraulically ac- tuated. The main parts of the torque converter (A) are the impeller (pump), the turbine, the stator and the front and rear covers.
SECTION 17 - TORQUE CONVERTERS DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY Z Secure the drive plate (3) to the torque converter (5), with the attaching bolts and flat washers (1). Z Tighten bolts to 53 Nm (39 lbf·ft).
