ALL WHEEL DRIVE (AWD) COIL

AWD SYSTEM

VOLTAGE LEVEL: 14.0 VDC
LOCATION: Inside Hub coil.
SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAM REFERENCE: See AWD
System Wiring Diagram, page 8.31.
OVERVIEW:
• When the AWD switch is "ON", 14 VDC power is
present at the hub coil.
• If the criteria is met, the Vehicle Control Interface
Module (VCIM) provides a ground path to the Brown/
White wire.
• The AWD hub coil must be grounded to function.

DIAGNOSING SYSTEM FAILURES

• Verify the AWD switch is functional and that a
minimum of 11 volts is present at the hub coil on the
Gray wire.
• Verify the AWD hub coil is functional. Test the AWD
hub coil using an ohm meter. See specifications below:
AWD Hub Coil Resistance:
27.1 Ω ± 10%
• Verify the wiring harness, wiring, connectors, pins and
grounds are undamaged, clean and connected
properly.
Verify all wires and wiring connections have been
tested properly with a known good volt/ohm meter
before suspecting a component failure. Most electrical
problems are caused by poor connections and grounds.
