SETTING UP THE HEARTSTART
PACKAGE CONTENTS
Check the contents of the HeartStart Home Defibrillator box to be sure it
contains:
•
1 HeartStart Defibrillator M5068A
•
1 battery M5070A, pre-installed
•
1 Adult SMART Pads Cartridge M5071A, pre-installed
containing one set of adhesive defibrillation pads
•
1 literature envelope containing: Owner's Manual, Quick Start poster,
HeartStart Support Program enrollment card, Call 911 telephone
reminder sticker
•
1 training video
Additional practice materials and optional accessories for the HeartStart HS1
family of defibrillators are also available from Philips. See Appendix A for a
description of these items.
SETUP
Setting-up the HeartStart is simple and quick. Simply open
the red carry case and lift out the HeartStart with its wrap-
around card. Then follow the instructions on the card.
1.
Pull the red tab to start the automatic battery self-test.
The defibrillator will tell you it is testing.

Press the flashing orange Shock button when the voice
tells you to. (No shock will be given.)
3.
Wait about one minute. When the HeartStart passes
the self-test it turns off and the green Ready light starts
blinking to show that the defibrillator is in standby

Pull out the red tag.
