Using the Wireless LAN
To communicate without an access point (ad-hoc)

The IEEE 802.11a standard, using the 5 GHz band, and the IEEE 802.11n draft standard, using the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz band, are not available on ad-hoc
networks.
1 Click the VAIO Smart Network icon on the taskbar.
2 Click the switch next to your desired wireless option(s) to toggle it to On in the VAIO Smart Network window.
Make sure the WIRELESS indicator light turns on.
3 Click Start and Control Panel.
4 Click View network status and tasks under Network and Internet.
5 Click Set up a new connection or network.
6 Select an option to specify the ad-hoc network settings and click Next.
7 Follow the on-screen instructions.
