Make sure your desktop is shut down before you connect the external display to your desktop. If you connect the external display when your desktop is active, you will not be able to select an external display.

Turn on the computer after you turned off the peripheral devices. You can only connect your desktop with a TV if you have a VGA connector on your TV. Connect your desktop and your TV using a VGA cable. You cannot have a display on TV and on another display at the same time.

Turn on your computer and insert the system recovery CD-ROM into the CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive. Shut down your computer (Start/Shut Down/Shut Down). Wait ten seconds.

This is the recommended option if you do not need to modify the partition sizes and if you want to restore your C: drive while keeping the data on your D: drive untouched.
