The manual provides maintenance procedures, a list of required tools, and a troubleshooting guide. In addition, the manual contains a wiring diagram.

    Operation The control panel on the housing top consists of the control panel switch, indicator LEDs, and sheet capacity LEDs. Power Turns on the shredder and illuminates the power LED. Forward Runs the shredder in forward mode. Press and hold to activate. Reverse Runs the shredder in reverse mode.

    Indicator LEDs The 225i, 225Ci, and 225Mi have five indicator LEDs on the housing cover. General Indicators Color C-225i C-225Ci Over Heat Door open Bin Full Remove Paper SafeSense Yellow The indicator PC board that operates the LEDs is located on the inside of the housing cover. If an indicator LED fails, replace the universal control PC board assembly.
  • Page 11: Sheet Capacity Leds

    If used at or near capacity for an extended time the 225Ci shredder should be oiled every 15 minutes, if not, it should be oiled after every bag change. Use Fellowes Powershred Lubricant (#35250) or other non-aerosol vegetable-based oil to lubricate the cutters.

    Troubleshooting Troubleshooting the shredder begins with checking the machine for possible faults. Possible causes for machine malfunctions include: • Paper feed problems • CD/DVD feed problems • Electrical problems • Mechanical problems Paper Feed Problems Paper can become jammed if the paper is misfed. Paper may also jam if the waste bin is full or if there is a build up of paper shreds along the underside of the cutting assembly.

    Cabinet and Housing • The cabinet has a shelf that supports the mechanical and electrical components. • The housing cover fits on the cabinet. • The Control Touch Panel with the power, forward, reverse, and AUTO buttons, the indicator LEDs, and the Sheet Capacity LEDs are located on the housing cover. •...

    Housing Cover To remove the housing from the cabinet: 1. Remove the 4 screws that secure the housing cover to the rear of the cabinet. 2. Open the door and remove the 4 screws that secure the housing cover to the front of the cabinet.

  • Page 18 225Ci Timing Diagram In order to properly set the timing for the cutters on model 225Ci you must position the timing marks on the non- gear side cutter shafts as shown below. (Please note: Timing marks have been highlighted in red for documentation purpose only!)

    Electrical Assemblies CAUTION! To prevent electrical shock, make sure the shredder is disconnected from the power source before performing any electrical repairs. Capacitor Typical problems that may be caused by a defective capacitor are: No motor function. The capacitor is secured to the bottom of the cabinet shelf. Two wires connect the main PC board to the capacitor.

    Power Switch The main power switch is located on the back of the cabinet next to the power cord receptacle. The switch is held in place by tabs that snap into an opening on the cabinet. To replace the main power switch: 1.

    225Ci / 225Mi Basket Full System An Ambient Light Basket Full (ALBF) module emits light into the wastebasket. It determines level of shreds in wastebasket by the light being reflected back from the shreds. • The motor will stop when the sensor determines that the waste bin is full, and the shredder will not operate until the waste bin is emptied.

    Jam Proof Module • The Jam Proof module senses the amount of paper you feed in at one time. • If it detects too much paper being fed through at once it will not allow power to the motor. • An LED indicating tree will advise on how much paper the module senses.

    Control / L.E.D Board Assembly The Control Board and L.E.D Board are attached to the housing cover. These PC boards are hard wired to each other and must be replaced at the same time. Note: After performing replacement check sheet capacity intake on shredder. If shredder does not take capacity please refer to pages 26-27 and perform indicated adjustments.

    Jam Proof Calibration Only 1. Turn on the main power switch at the rear of the cabinet. 2. Immediately press and hold the Forward, Rev, and Power buttons on the control panel switch and release. Once you have access the shredder’s main menu mode you will see 3 green lights and one yellow light illuminate on the Jam Proof Indicator.
