Adjusting GN ACTIVA for your comfort
14. Wearing styles: You can wear GN ACTIVA on your right or left ear, whichever side you prefer. To switch side,
simply rotate the boom arm. The boom arm can be turned 80
click-stops when it cannot turn any further.
Note: Do not force the boom arm over the top of the headset.
15. Adjust the length of the headband so the headset rests comfortably on your head. The T-bar should be placed
just above your free ear.
16. Adjust the flexible boom arm so the microphone is positioned approximately 2 cm from your mouth.
17. To change or clean the leather ear cushion, first remove the earplate that is placed on the receiver. Turn the
earplate 45
O
counterclockwise. Once removed, the ear cushion can be taken off the earplate.
To clean or change the microphone foam cover, just pull it off gently.
How to take GN ACTIVA into use
18. IMPORTANT: Activating the battery
To save power, your headset automatically goes into "battery low" mode when it has not been used for 30
minutes. This means that you must re-activate the battery when you want to use your headset again. To re-
activate, press either the volume control or mute button. Your headset is then immediately operational again.
Answering and making calls
To answer or make a call, put on headset, pick up handset, press volume control or mute button and answer
phone or make a call. To end a call, put down handset back in place on telephone.
Using the headset/handset-switch
19a. Insert the headset cord in the headset socket on the headset/handset switch.
19b. Insert the handset cord in the handset socket on the headset/handset switch.
19c. Insert the connecting cable on the headset/handset switch in the handset socket on your telephone.
19d. Set the switch in headset or handset position as you wish.
Adjusting the volume
20. To turn the headset sound volume up or down, press the upper (+) or lower (-) part of the oval volume control
button on the outside of the receiver until you find the desired level. When you reach the maximum or
minimum sound levels, you will hear a signal.
Muting the microphone
21. To talk with another person in the room without your caller hearing you, press the mute button. When the
microphone is muted, you will hear a signal every 3 seconds. When the mute function is on, you can still hear
your caller.
Disconnecting quickly
22. You can leave your telephone without taking off your headset by using the Quick Disconnect plug. Just pull
the plug and walk away. Your call will not be disconnected. So you can continue your call when you plug in
your headset again.
Clothing clip
23. Use the clothing clip to keep the headset cord in place. Attach the cord to your shirt or jacket.

AVS (Advanced Voice Shaping)
24. The AVS function is a unique feature that makes it possible to change the frequency of your callers voice. The
feature enhances sound when calls are difficult to hear because of background noise. To activate AVS, press
simultaneously on upper and lower part of the volume button on the outside of the receiver. You will hear a
signal when AVS is activated and de-activated. To cancel the setting, just press the volume button again.
